What started as a family affair has turned into an international success story that continues to deliver. Co-founded in 1968 by architect Enrico Astori, his sister Antonia Astori and his wife Adelaide Acerbi a graduate of stage design, today Driade is recognised as one of the leading brands when it comes to luxury living in the furniture market.

They have since created many designs that are regarded as milestones in the history of design. Even a documentary has been filmed, focussing on Adelaide and the Driade brand called L'Adelaide. Needless to say, their impact was (and is) great. Their reputation as creatives and wonderful, passionate people is a legend that lives on.

Driade is linked to renowned designers and architects, cultural personalities and icons of design from Philippe Starck and Ron Arad to Fabio Novembre, Rodolfo Dordoni, Patricia Urquiola and Enzo Mari and so many others. The company has won multiple Compasso d’Oro awards and is regarded as authentic ambassadors of Italian style, function and form. Their work is undeniably inspiring.

Five decades on, Driade continues to consistently push the boundaries while remaining true to their core by embodying a lifestyle with their designs. The brand has become synonymous with rock, pop, experimentation and joie de vivre. They recently launched the ‘Driade Lounge Project’ at the Grand Hotel Poltu Quatu and the Blu Beach Club in Porto Cervo, a Mediterranean paradise on the north coast of Sardinia. There you will spot many pieces including the Nemo Chair, watching over glamorous crowds while DJ’s entertain, creating a truly sophisticated and magical setting.

There are distinct qualities that make each piece in the Driade collection fascinating. Take the Tottori arm chair, sofa and table by Kateryna Sokolova as an example. Inspired by a Japanese animated film, she has created an elegant, functional and aesthetically appealing collection that features a generously sized backrest and legs, giving the pieces a distinctive appearance. Her quirky coffee table with three legs is a perfect example of distinctive design.

Fabio Novembre is the creator of the Nemo Chair and is also the art director at Driade, a position he has held since 2019. An architect and designer by trade, his work at the helm is tireless as carries on the legacy with passion and flair, waving the flag of unconventional vision that has been the foundation of Driade since it began.

Both the Nemo Chair and the Roly Poly Armchair and Outdoor Sofa by Faye Toogood are made with industrially recycled materials, including post-consumer waste such as PET bottles.
